My partner's chicken rice craving was not appeased at Sam Yu and the following evening we ventured out to 1977 Ipoh Chicken Rice at Jalan Gasing. This is getting good isn't it? Two date nights in a row. Macam honeymoon pulak.
From what I heard, this is a very popular chicken rice joint. True enough, when we got there past 7:00pm, the place was in full swing.
Most if not all the tables were taken and we were lucky that a table was available as soon as we walked in. The servers were frantically clearing and cleaning the table for us.
I could feel the energy as I observed the staff working at attack speed to get the orders out.
We learnt our lesson the previous evening and made sure not too order too much food.
I had the ambra juice. It was so refreshing. My partner had warm water.
We warmed up with a serving of lotus root soup. It was very good.
It looks like I had one cheat night too many. How could I not eat rice at a chicken rice shop?
We ordered the kampung chicken but the server came back to inform us that they ran out. So regular chicken it was. In terms of looks, obviously it is nowhere near the one from Sam Yu because that one was a kampung chicken. As you can guess, nothing beats kampung chicken in terms of looks, taste and texture.
And of course, an order of the famous Ipoh nga choy. My partner complained that it was not very tasty. It was OK for me.
I kidnapped his chili sauce and monopolized the ginger paste after he took about a teaspoon of it. I am so naughty.
My partner told me that the restaurant next door also serves chicken rice.
Oh! There is a banana leaf restaurant on the other side.
Well, that was a very good meal. We were satisfied and the amount we ate was just right. I hope my partner fulfilled his chicken rice craving.
