So Slimy So Geli....

After reading on Mun's post on Tororo Yamaimo, I became very curious. I did see this item on the menu at Mitsuyado Sei-Men when I visited earlier but I was not that adventurous to try this very unfamiliar thing.

So to satisfy my curiosity I dropped by one evening.

Tororo Yamaimo & Quill Egg. Described as fresh Japanese springy noodles served with yuzu dipping soup, grated Japanese yam and quill egg

The grated Japanese yam was a gooey paste with a raw quail egg in it. Errrr...is it ok to eat raw egg? I took a leap of faith and stirred the egg yolk into the yam.

Actually how do you eat this? Just use chopsticks and spoon into your mouth? I just proceeded as I saw fit and tasted the concoction.

It wasn't disgusting or anything like that, just slimy and taste wise it was very mild. I would say it had a clean taste, nothing overpowering or remarkable about it.

I enjoyed the noodles and yuzu dipping sauce of course. As for this Tororo Yamaimo & Quill Egg, I won't be having it again hah..hah..

  1. Oh, good, good, you tried this as you said you would. Clean taste I agree. I think we are supposed to dip the noodles into this slimy paste to eat it. The big question - did you finish eating it? Or did your dining companion finish it for you?

  6. I've eaten Japanese raw eggs before...but not with grated yam...and they're perfectly safe to eat. Actually, you can find beaten raw eggs (they use premium pasteurised eggs) commonly served as a dipping sauce in sukiyaki joints.

  8. heheh, i don't mind the taste and texture of raw eggs ... i recently took an egg from a breakfast buffet counter recently and thought it would be soft-boiled ... unfortunately it was very much hard-boiled, which i don't love, heh :D

  10. Aiyoyo Aororo! Luckily you didn't swallow the raw Quail's eggs!! My Biology teacher told us that a woman with raw eggs will easily get pregnant la. You might grow Quail feathers and start chirping like a Starling Puyuh.

Honestly, my wife always showed her disgust because I love to eat slimy, gooey, milky and stinky food. Am I abnormal?
